Mumbai : Top cricketers of the Indian cricket team such as Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane may have to wait longer for individual practice in their city. The city of these two cricketers has been declared a Red Zone because of the Covid 19 epidemic and due to being in the Red Zone, it may take a long time to open the sports facilities here.
The Maharashtra government has allowed stadiums located in the Green and Orange zones to be opened for personal training, but there will be no audience attendance. The exemption was also given in these cases when the Ministry of Home Affairs of India offered to relax some of the rules for Lockdown 4 implemented till 31 May. However, Mumbai and all its neighboring areas like Thane, Navi Mumbai, Mira Bhayandar , Vasai Virar and Kalyan Dombivili have been declared Red Zone.
A senior MCA official said on Wednesday that we will strictly follow the norms of the state government regarding opening of stadiums and sports facilities. This means that the top cricketers of the country who live in these areas such as Rohit Sharma and Rahane will have to wait on the ground to practice. MCA has three facilities in these areas, which include Wankhede Stadium, Bandra Kurla Complex and Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana in suburban Kandivali. These players can practice here, but they will not be able to open at the moment.
Apart from this, cricket practice will not be started at the Breboard Stadium on Marin Drive. An official of the Cricket Club of India, CCI, said that they are waiting for the government's order to start everything again, till then nothing will happen. Mumbai Covid is badly affected due to the 19 pandemic.
