New Delhi : India have not lost in the One Day World Cup between India and Pakistan till date. Recalling the 2015 World Cup, Suresh Raina recounted how Dhoni had changed plans completely and asked him to leave food and be ready to bat.
India scored 300 against Pakistan on the basis of Virat Kohli's explosive century innings. Raina came in at number four and scored a fast half-century and India maintained the record of being invincible by naming the match by 76 runs.
Raina said that Ajinkya Rahane batted at number four in the entire World Cup and he landed at number five. He revealed that Dhoni had told him about his sudden batting against Pakistan. Kohli and Dhawan were batting comfortably when Dhoni asked them to be ready by wearing pads.
"I never questioned his decision. I remember eating sandwiches or doing something else during the 2015 World Cup match against Pakistan. Suddenly after 20 overs, he told me to wear a pad. Lo. I put on the pads. Virat was batting very well. It was a few overs before Dhawan was dismissed. So after that I got down to bat, I took some shots and scored 70-80 runs. "
Raina went on to bat at number four in this match. Bharath's score was 162 for 3 wickets in 29.5 overs. He scored 74 off 56 balls with the help of 5 fours and three sixes and played a crucial 110-run partnership with Kohli.
Raina also revealed why Dhoni changed the plan at the last moment, "After the match I asked him why did you change my batting order. His reply was, I think you are better against leg-spinner. Will play. He also praised my batting.
