'India won because of Dhoni's smartness in the ball out against Pakistan'

New Delhi : Robin Uthappa has bowled just three balls in his entire international career. Out of these, he bowled two balls in ODI cricket and the third ball in South Africa during the 2007 T20 World Cup. He bowled a third ball from India during the ball out against Pakistan and hit the stumps. In this match at Kingsmead ground in Durban, India won the match by defeating Pakistan 3–0 in a ball out.

Robin Uthappa gave India the full credit of the victory against Pakistan to MS Dhoni. He spoke to New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi on the Rajasthan Royals podcast and said that what Dhoni had finally done was that India had won. Uthappa said that when the match was to be decided by the ball out and Pakistan's bowling turn came, the wicketkeeper of that team, Kamran Akmal, stood behind the wicket in the same way as the normal wicketkeeper. Umar Gul, Yashir Arafat and Shahid Afridi bowled balls for Pakistan, but no one hit the stumps.

At the same time, Uthappa told that when India's turn came, Dhoni went to the right side behind the wicket. His sitting in this way made the work easier for us. We just had to bowl on MS and it gave us the best chance to hit the wicket. Then all three Indian bowlers hit the stumps and we won the match and I was one of those bowlers.

Let us tell you that in this match both India and Pakistan teams scored 141 runs and the match was decided by ball out. In this match, all three bowlers of India hit Pakistan by 3–0 stumps and it was also India's first win under Dhoni's captaincy in international cricket. India won in this match, yet the title of man of the match was Pakistan's fast bowler Mo. Asif was given as he took four wickets. At the same time, Uthappa scored 50 runs off 39 balls, which included 4 fours and 2 sixes.
