ICC threatens BCCI to shift T20 World Cup, this issue will have to be resolved

New Delhi : The conflict between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started again. Even now the ICC has threatened the BCCI to shift the T20 World Cup to be held from India in 2021. The world's richest cricket board has received this threat from the highest institution of cricket because of a tax-related matter.

The ICC has spoken to the BCCI that the rights to the 2021 Men's T World Cup can be taken away from the board if the BCCI does not succeed in securing the tax exemption for the tournament from the Indian government. According to ESPN Cricinfo, there has been fierce emailing between ICC and BCCI. The ICC told the BCCI that it had to provide an "unconditional confirmation" by May 18 of this year that a long-standing solution to the problem had been found in coordination with the Indian government, but it could not.

In addition, the BCCI wants the deadline to be extended to at least 30 June due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, but the ICC has declined the request. ICC lawyer Jonathan Hall wrote to the BCCI on 29 April "In light of the BCCI's notification of the performance of the force, we will highlight the obligation of the host agreement to the BCCI and the IBC (ICC Business Corporation) at any time on 18 May 2020. Is entitled to terminate the agreement with effect. "

This is not the first case between the ICC and the BCCI. Earlier, ICC had lost US $ 20 to 30 million due to the 2016 T20 World Cup hosted by India, as the BCCI did not take permission from the Government of India for tax exemption. Even in February 2018, the ICC Board first warned the BCCI that the 2021 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup host could be withdrawn, as the ICC would lose US $ 100 million if it does not get tax exemption. .
