New Delhi : Captain Shekhar Naik, who won the Blind World Cup twice to the Indian team, is currently facing financial crisis. This is the reason why he has demanded a job under sports quota from the Sports Minister of India, Kiran Rijiju, so that he can live with his 31-year-old wife Pooja, two daughters, a 10-year-old girl and a 5-year-old daughter. He has said that he wants a job, not Padma Shri.
The 33-year-old Shekhar Naik, who hails from Bengaluru, is the first blind cricketer in the country to be awarded the Padma Shri award. He led the Indian team to victory in the 2012 T20 World Cup in Bangalore and the ODI World Cup in South Africa in 2015. He currently works in a private company, but has lost his company to a lockdown caused by the Corona virus, which he has lost.
Shekhar Naik has told associate newspaper Mid-Day, "My salary is 25 thousand rupees, out of which my house rent goes out to 12 thousand rupees. As I was managing my family in the past, But due to the lockdown, my salary is on hold and in such a situation I have not been able to rent my house for two months. My family is going through a difficult time at the moment. All my savings are over.
He has not been heard even after talking to the authorities continuously. BA Pas Shekhar Naik has said, "In the last eight years, I have met various Chief Ministers of Karnataka, requested them for a government job. Last December, I met Sports Minister Rijiju in Delhi and told him that Padma Shri More I desperately need a good job because my wife is also blind. "
Naik was blind since birth, but at the age of eight he had an accident which resulted in 60% of his vision being directly in the eye, while the left eye could not be treated. Shekhar Naik, a B2-category blind cricketer, is a medium pace pace bowler who took 22 wickets and won the Best Bowler Award at the 2012 World Cup.
The Karnataka government had given them Rs 3 lakh as a reward, from which they were able to fill the rent. He received Rs 7 lakh from the Sports Ministry to win the World Cup as he scored 650 runs and took 17 wickets. The surprising thing is that out of this, he has donated two lakh and ten thousand rupees to the Cricket Association for the Blind in India, to help the blind cricketers.
